How to Wear Bottega Green this Winter season

According to the charismatic Kermit the Frog; he says “it’s not easy being green.” Well these past few seasons in fashion have proven the friendly muppet may have been mistaken. This vibrant Kelly green; loosely adopted as Bottega green; because it was popularized by the fashion house, doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. What started out as a phase has quickly become a staple in every fashionistas wardrobe. From beautiful handbags, to trousers to statement shoes, the color adds a certain pop. Like many colors; being rather bright and unexpected, many people may love the color, but are uncertain of how to incorporate it into their everyday wardrobes. Not to fret, because my entire wardrobe is color, I’ve become pretty familiar with how to make color work. Keep reading to find out 3 simple ways to wear this fabulous color this Winter.

Neutrals as a Base

The easiest way to wear Kelly green, or any bright color for that matter, is to pair with neutrals. Because the color is already a statement, there’s no need to over do it. Sticking to black or white pairings with this color is a match made in heaven. It creates a great contrast and also allows your color to shine through. Now you can most definitely go for a cool color blocking moment and pair with anther color, but KISS (keep its simple stupid) is definitely the appropriate acronym here.

Patterns: Because I always like a little more pop I took it up a notch by pairing with a pattern. The pattern works because the color base is still in neutral colors of black and white.

A Statement Coat

When the temps start to drop, a coat is one of the few ways people get to show their style. Therefore, a statement coat is the perfect way to wear such a vibrant shade of green, or any color. This green has been popping everywhere, and I’ve spotted some beautiful coats in this shade. It works because it’s bright enough to pop and different enough that it doesn’t remind you of Christmas. Apply the same rules as above, of keeping your base neutral, and you’re good to go.

Pair with Complimentary Colors

Now that you have the basics down, here’s a tip for those who really want to make a statement. Just because you’re wearing such a statement color, does not mean wearing another color is forbidden. The key here is to make sure it’s a complimentary color to green. You can pair a complimentary top or even coat, but I prefer accessories. Accessories are a chic and settle way to incorporate more color without feeling like you’re overdoing it. It’s also a great way to ease into wearing more color if this is not something you’re used to.

I paired this Orange Ponyhair Trunk bag by Brandon Blackwood for a chic complimentary pop. Orange and green always look great together. Because it is a small accessorize it still allows the green pant to be the star. Here are other colors that pair well with Kelly green.

Red, Yellow, Purple, Pink

Kelly Green is such a beautiful and vibrant color that will liven up any winter outfit. I hope these tips have helped you with ideas on how to add it to your wardrobe. Here’s to a winter of “being green”.
