Over here on the east coast, mother nature has definitely kept us guessing. One day its 80 degrees and the next day the hawk is literally out. Although the weather may fluctuate now, one thing for certain is that in just a few weeks you’ll be in need of a winter coat. I mean lets face it, your outerwear will be the only makings of an outfit, so you want to make sure you have a good one. Now’s the time to start shopping for a great winter coat, before the cold temps sneak up on us for good. Heres all of my picks for fabulous coat options that will keep you warm, cozy and fashionable all winter long.
Neutrals:
Every woman should have at least one neutral coat in their possession. Now its up to you what color you choose; which should be based on what color family you tend to gravitate towards. Neutral does not just mean black. There are so many awesome color options to choose from; including camel, brown, gray, olive and even white. Having a neutral option will make it super simple for you to head out. Having a coat that will match your outfit no matter what color your rocking, is a major time saver. Check out some of my faves below.
Statement:
A statement coat is not a necessity for most, but it is in my fashion book. Because the winter doesn’t leave much room for you to show off a fun and unique outfit, your coat is usually just that. A statement coat gives us a taste of your personality and serves in lieu of an outfit most may never get to see. It’s a great way to liven up your mood and those around you. It warrants loads of compliments, ponderings of where you got such a fabulous piece, and is a conversation starter. If you already have your neutral option, strongly consider purchasing a statement coat. My pink coat I’m wearing brings me so much joy as its my favorite color, but is also a nonstop magnet for compliments; and who doesn’t want that.
Faux Fur
Another must have for every women’s closet. There’s something that’s so dramatic yet practical about a faux fur. Even though it carries a luxe appeal, you can easily pair it with jeans and a t-shirt just the same as an evening gown. Luckily there are many affordable and chic options each year to choose from. Check out some great ones below.
Puffer:
Now I don’t usually steer towards the puffer coat, as I tend to like dressier styles, but it definitely warrants a place in every woman’s wardrobe. A puffer is a great option for those less then desirable temps and for weather that doesn’t warrant a fancy coat (rain or snow). The only key to wearing a puffer coat is to not look like a 8 year old whose mother packed him up tight to head to school. Look for a version that has a chic element. Maybe opt for a padded leather, one with a wide lapel or belted. These small details are what will take you from looking like a colored marshmallow to warm yet well dressed. Here are some great modern chic options for puffer coats.
I hope these tips have helped you get your mind ready to switch gears into the winter season. We only have a few weeks here before we start to feel the drop in weather. It’s always smart to get a head start, especially with slower delivery times due to Covid. Check out the styles above, and let me know which style you’re looking to add to your winter wardrobe this year!
