Unless you’ve been living under a rock, I’m sure you’ve noticed a cherry change of clothing this past season. In lieu of the normal monotone and minimal color palettes of blacks and nudes; people have really tapped into their bright side. There has been an array of color blocking, neons and bright patterns with a nod to retro years. And I must say I’m here for it all.
One look at my instagram feed will confirm I’m no stranger to colors. The brighter the better, in my opinion. A bright colors or ensemble is an instant mood booster and really makes you stand out amongst the crowd; but in a good way. Designers have been showing more vivacious color palettes and the masses have definitely taken fashion notes. I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite colorful peices right now.

If you’re thinking about venturing out into the color world, but unsure of what colors to try, here are some suggestions. Right now Kelly green and canary yellow are trending. Green is considered the color of the season, and in my opinion, tends to look good on most skin tones. Pair with white or other bright colors like orange, pink or yellow. Yellow can be tricky with some complexions, but don’t forget you can always rock a bag , shoe or other accessory to sport the hue. Wearing bright colors doesn’t just have to be in your outfit. Ease yourself into rocking more colors by trying out a fun accessory. I’ve paired my already colorful outfit with a bright blue bag. However, I could easily pair it with a simple all black look or something more muted to add a nice pop.
Another great way to wear bright colors is with a pattern. Sometimes it can be overwhelming or difficult to put an outfit together involving multiple colors. With a fun pattern, the dirty work is done for you. All you need to do is find a pattern that you love and feel comfortable with and rock it. It’s that simple. To finish the look simply pull out one of the colors in the pattern as the color for your bag and shoe. Your bag and shoe don’t need to be the same color, but they both should be one of the colors in the pattern. This is the simplest way to pull it off. Now if your a veteran in this color matching game, then by all means go wild.
I’m really loving the new collection by Christopher John Rogers for Target. Not only was I already of fan of Rogers’ bold shapes and colorful designs, but the collection sums up every tip in this post. He has a little bit of everything. There are solid colors, color blocking and patterns. All you need to do is pick your poison. The best part, they’re all at great price points with nothing over $60. Shop my favorites below.
So don’t be shy this spring and summer. Be bold in brighter colors. There are so many beautiful colors to choose from; literally something for everyone.
