The Best Denim Shorts You Need this Summer

With outside rapidly starting to open back up, seems like we can predict actually having a summer this year. Vacations are being booked, family trips being planned and we’ve done so much shopping while quarantined that we’re just itching to wear. The summer looks like it’s going to be our moment; and what staple do you definitely need every summer; none other than the denim short. It’s definitely looking like suns out, buns out, so you’ll need a few pairs of denim shorts on deck.

A denim short is a staple in my book. It acts just like a full length jean does during the fall and winter seasons. You can literally pull it out when stumped on what to wear and style minimally for an easy no brainer look. The possibilities are endless. Wear them with chunky platforms, or flats, a tee shirt or blouse; it all works. My summer wardrobe literally consists of denim shorts and dresses. Two of the simplest and weather friendly styles to wear.

One tip when wearing denim shorts is to size up. In my opinion there’s nothing less appealing than too tight shorts. I mean they’re shorts, not undergarments. Even though on the more casual side, you still want to possess an overall polish to your look. I usually size up at least one size in all of my shorts. This is also a good tip if you are a bit curvier on the bottom. It will allow ample room for your hips and derrière.

If you feel like denim shorts have run their course and are outdated; think again. Along with the classic styles, designers have been introducing so many cool and innovative twists to them. I especially love the Alexander Wang ruffled denim ones; they give me a mix between shorts and a line skirt. It’s no surprise that these sold out rather quickly, you can score the great dupe I’m wearing here. Agolde also has continued their popular trending crossover style into shorts. They would be awesome paired with a simple crop top and flats.

So in the next few weeks as you’re gearing up for summer essentials, make sure you have a few pairs of denim shorts on reserve.
