We are heading into February soon and boot season is well underway, however, we still have a few months ahead for major boot action. When it comes to boots, black or brown has always been the go to. It was sure to match any outfit deeming it the ultimate safe choice. Simple smooth calf leather and suede were the textiles of choice in a simple silhouette. Lately, statement boots have not just been taking over the runways but popping up in street style everywhere. Bold colors, including jewel tones, as seen in Maxmara, and interesting finishes including patent, embossed croc and snakeskin have been scaling their way to the masses. If you’re used to playing it safe with your boot selections, I have a feeling you’ll be taking more risks after reading this post.
Walk on the Wild Side:
Animal prints are a great way to make a statement with your boots. the choices have expanded from leopard, to zebra, tiger to snakeskin. Although the patterns may be bold, the good thing to remember for styling is that these prints are mostly composed of neutral colors. This means its easy peasy to style them. Pair with simple black, white or nude toned clothing for simple styling. You can never go wrong.

Embossed is Boss:
Embossed styles are another great way to add a statement. Embossing involves pressing ( by machine) imitation patterns on the natural grain of leather to give the look and feel of a particular animal skin. This is usually the perfect way to obtain the look for less, as the imitated skins usually come with a hefty price tag for the real thing. You will usually find lots of options in embossed croc and even alligator, which would be rather expensive. If you do prefer authentic skins try stalking sales like Net-a Porter and Neiman Marcus during season end sales. I scored the $1200 Aquazurra pair I’m wearing for over 70 percent off during Neiman’s sale; a total steal. (Deets on my look here). Embossed options also can provide more realistic, affordable and color options. For instance, there’s no such thing as a blue crocodile, but you could most likely find an embossed leather boot in teal. Check out some options below.
Patent boots are so hot right now. These are definitely a statement boot if there is one. They have always been around, but not always so popular. We have seen them branch out from just black to white and brighter colors like red and pink. For a jazzed up casual feel, they are great styled with jeans and a tee. For a twist, wear them to edge up a super girly, feminine dress. I’ve have seen patent styles in taller versions this season, but ankle styles are still a viable option as they pair well with different proportions.
Boots can be worn well into the spring before the weather starts to break for summer. Why not make a statement this Spring trying out one of these options. Check out some more of my fave picks below and comment with which fun styles you’ll be trying out.
