I have definitely been in full spring mode. I’ve added numerous new shoes that you guys know I absolutely don’t need. And I’ve added to cart about 300 times this month alone and completed checkout for one too many orders. But hey, the spring goodness is just too good this year. I have been spotting so many fabulous pieces that are truly must haves for the season. From dresses to skirts to bags and shoes, there are plenty to swoon over. But no matter what you’re purchasinG, you have to make sure you add something in either one of spring’s it colors. I’m talking none other than yellow and lilac.
Lilac is always a great spring pastel that resurfaces every season, but if you’ve never taken the light purple bait before; now is the time. If you follow me on Instagram, you know I’ve mentioned my fave spring color was definitely buttercup yellow. Pantone already told us yellow was the color of the year; I’m just here to reiterate. Both colors are so springy, vibrant and fresh. They also can be worn so many ways. Keep reading for some great ways to style these two colors.
Wear Them Together:
As you can see on me, lilac and lemon yellow together are just a match made in heaven. Why does it work you ask; it follows the pastel rule. Now I’m not sure this is a real rule, but I have deemed it one. Take any two pastel colors and wear them together. Don’t question; it just works. Lol. My reason is that because they are less saturated than their originating base color, the overall feel is not as intense. This allows you to wear them together without feeling like your look is overpowering. Read more about color pairing in my post 3 WAYS TO WEAR PASTELS THIS SPRING.

Pair Them with Complimentary Colors:
Like I mentioned above, there are so many ways to wear these two colors. We know you can always keep it simple with denim or by wearing a one piece garment in either color, but here are some more options. The great thing about wearing color is that there are countless combinations that you can try for new ideas. Here are some color combinations for both lilac and yellow that you can try out this Spring.
- lilac and tangelo orange
- lilac and olive green

Accessories:
Now this is for my pals who may be just venturing into exploring color. An accessory is a great way to try out a new color without feeling too overwhelmed. A fun bag, shoe or hat can add just the right amount of unique appeal to your outfit. This spring there are lots of great options in both lilac and yellow for you to try. Try a lilac shoe with jeans and a white top. Throw a yellow bag on with an all denim or all white look for a sunny fresh pop. Check out some of my fave options below.
